I think my favorite part of being a TV host is when I get to do live TV in front of a live audience! Seeing the faces, hearing the reactions, feeling the warmth on the stage all make my job so much easier!

This past weekend I had the honor of hosting the first annual Elevation Awards; an event that finally recognized all aspects of Bahamian entertainment and not limiting the respect and admiration to just a few.

Awards like this are especially important to me because being a blogger, web/TV show host, producer and writer, it sometimes feels like your work goes unnoticed and slips under the radar. I also love the fact that someone finally sees that bloggers, vloggers and writers are real entertainers and notices the importance of new media in the country. We have serious strongholds in entertainment using our social media platforms to shape many national debates.

In addition to hosting, my food TV show A Mouth Full was nominated for TV Show of the year!

I was so nervous to be the first host for this inaugural and I knew I had a task ahead of me; as I had the responsibility of setting the pace, mood and vibe for the show! I really didn’t know what to expect, how I would do and if the crowd would even dig me!

But after a few pep talks to myself, putting on my game face and slipping into my onstage persona, the jitters vanished and I did the damn thing at the Elevation Awards!

Any fashionista hitting an awards show (as host or not) knows the outfits make the night! I loved all three of my looks and felt super sexy and confident in them!

The Red Carpet – Golden Stature

I so love this dress! I picked this up when I was in Thailand. The stretchy material worked wonders for all the food I indulged in at the Melia Beach Resort, the all inclusive resort where the event was held and where I stayed for the weekend! The dress’ thin red and gold stripes were so cool because they looked like an illusion of some sort, switching colors as I moved! It was so odd being on the other side of a red carpet interview and I now see how scary it really is! LOL!  This red carpet look was so simple, my red Pat McGrath glitter lips were the perfect touch!  elevation awards

Show Look #1 – Old Hollywood Glamelevation awards

This little black dress…aint so little! Talk about a look! I fell in love with this the moment I saw it last year and knew I had to have it! I had no clue where I would wear it, but I guess hosting an awards show was a great choice! I love the complicated simplicity of this dress. The simple silhouette is accented with these amazing off the shoulder structured frills!  The material is so pretty up close, it looks like a pitch black starry night. I felt like I walked straight out of the pages of a 1920’s magazine; old Hollywood glamour at its finest!

P.S. I ended up changing my shoes for the main show!

Show Look #2 – The Greek Goddess

elevation awards

Many people don’t know this, but my middle name is Aphrodite…I can show you my birth certificate!! She’s the Greek goddess of love and beauty! In searching for my second look of the night, I knew I wanted something sexy, but classy and with a casual party feel! This last look was sponsored by an amazing clothing boutique Classy But Sassy and this dress hit all the right notes! This felt so good on and the blush/champagne color really complimented my skin! I love the ruching at the pockets and the wrap illusion of the dress! This look was so delicious and showed off my fave assets, my legs, in a beautiful way! Classy But Sassy is the plug for all things fashion!! They have so many great pieces for all events and styles! Even better is I got to keep the dress! WINNING! I paired the dress with my new lucite and rose gold slingbacks also from Classy But Sassy!

Congratulations to all the Elevation nominees and winners!
