It’s Called YouTube for a Reason…How I Turned my Channel into my “Personal Space”

For me, YouTube is the most intimidating platform to use as a blogger.

Although I’m a TV show host and make most of my money being on camera, I just could never seem to get the gist of creating video content for the uber popular and highly revered platform.

From the makeup tutorial videos, hair care routines, workout gurus teaching the best ab tricks, the “get ready with me” videos, fashionistas showing off their new buys, the “how to” videos, the comedians, pranksters and singers and actors…OMG!

There’s just so much content on YouTube, you almost feel as if you have to fit into one of these popular niches or get off of YouTube all together.

After a few of my own failed attempts to box myself into one of these areas doing a shabby hair tutorial, a not so good fashion video, and some other “about nothing” pieces, I soon realised…

I can literally use this platform for anything and instead of rolling into the fold, I decided to stick with what I know and what I’m good at…interviewing and talking to people!

Introducing “Personal Space”

I decided that if I am going to be on YouTube I’m going to do it my way, so I created a cool, funky and chatty show where I introduce my viewers to cool people I know and love and people I’d like to get to know better. It’s candid, it’s fun, it’s me!

Video content is where it’s at in 2017 and if you’re serious about blogging and getting your content seen, then YouTube is a must!

But take a page out of my book and tailor the experience to you; create something that you love, doing the things that you want and adding something new to the YouTube listing!

I’m super excited to kick off this new project and bop around town meeting some cool people for brunch, drinks and convo. In the first episode of the show, I introduce you to my friend, personal trainer and vlogger Autumn Dickens! Check it out below!

As always i enjoying the fact that you write about your real experiences; the good, the bad and the ugly. Some would like others to believe that they live in Ponyville and everything is perfect. Thanks for keeping it real.

Great video! I’ve read a few of your articles and love the fact that you’re not trying to fit in, but being yourself. #unique

Congratulations on finding YOU on Youtube. I really like the new show idea and enjoyed this first episode. I think the conversation was fun yet important; a reminder to be authentic. I always say “I can’t pay my bills with LIKES’, so I don’t become someone/something I’m not for social media approval. Having said that……what is your criteria/interest for anyone wanting to appear on the show/vlog/blog? Especially someone who lives outside of New Providence and might just be doing a drive-by?

The post is so accurate! I’m glad you wanted to do your own thing instead of trying to go with the “popular topics.”
