I’m not writing this blog as some revelation or new idea, but simply as a reminder. Today I went to the International Cultural Festival at Botanical Gardens (the first time in years) and was super proud of myself for choosing the perfect outfit for a fair; easy, breezy and comfy.Unfortunately I don’t have a pic to show because I was really out there producing a show and didn’t get time to snap pics…work ruled the day!! But close your eyes and picture this: a nude colored v-neck spaghetti strap, high waisted black slacks with beige polka dots, a black velvet wide brim hat and simple black leather flip flops with a crossbody Dooney and Bourke bag. For me the ICF kicks off all the best fall festivals in The Bahamas that take us straight through to the Christmas season and an outfit like that or similar, for me, proved to be the perfect pairing! I know the minute we get ready to head out, heels, a beat face and something tight and uncomfortable are the first things we grab. But I beg you not! Remember the time of day, rocky pathways, dirt filled yards and…the heat! So as you head out to the second day of the ICF on Sunday or the upcoming popular festivals like Jollification or Wine and Art festival here are some sexy, but comfy; trendy but cool options to add to your outfit.

1. Comfortable pants – I love me a good pair of jeans and in one of my previous posts, it’s definitely only my list of things to have for October. But for me in certain settings, like festivals, especially long jeans, are annoying. A cool alternative are some sexy slacks or some cool short pants.

2. Spaghetti strap, crop tops or tank top – Needs no explanation. The easiest, coolest tops to wear.imagesbeing-fat-crop-tops

3. Hats – Today was so humid and I was too happy I had my head covered from that brutality. Whether it’s a wide brim, baseball cap (I saw some of those today) or fedora, a fancy hat protects the hair and hides a bad hair day. maison-michel-black-wide-brim-hat-product-5-14698111-077903648_large_flex

4. Shades – I left my shades at home today because it’s weird for me wearing big rimmed shades at a hat. I go with either or, very rarely both. But if you can rock it both, go with it!

how dope are these?

5. Cross body bags – Who wants to be fumbling through or holding a big purse on your shoulder, while trying to order that second batch of Junkanoo Rolls from the Rum Bahamas booth (they were delicious!) or holding a drink, food and a clutch and the kids? Cross bodies are the perfect accessory in a busy environment. Hands free! Cross-body-bags-001

5. Today I wore flip flops and they were cool because the festival wasn’t that crowded so my feet attracted minimal dirt and dust. I still left with white toes and gritty heels, so maybe some nice ballet flats, tennis or any closed in shoe would have been better. Choose your fave!images-1

6. A clean face! It was soooooo humid! My simple makeup look today (light foundation, light powder, liner and mascara and EOS balm in my lips only) proved to be the right move. Thank God too, because I didn’t have to worry about drainage and constantly wiping my face all day! Easy. Breezy. Beautiful.
