Our Little Lemon Themed Baby Shower
Jan 18, 2025
The baby is two months now, and time is flying! But I had to circle back to a time before he joined us and share our beautiful, lemon-y baby shower.
I remember the sheer agony that ricocheted through my body in 2020 when we had to tell our friends and family that we’d be cancelling the baby shower we had planned for my now four-year-old daughter, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So four years later, with baby number two, I finally had my chance to actually host some of my favorite people to a baby shower we’d all remember for years to come.
After our gender reveal where we learned we’d be welcoming a baby boy, my sister (who is really a mimi-Martha Stewart) and I immediately got to work planning the event. During my many midnight Pinterest and Instagram binges, I fell in love with the clean, crisp, fresh look of these chinoserie, toile du joy and lemon-themed weddings and parties.
Whimsical and romantic blue and white prints, accented by the bright and vibrant hue of chunky lemons adorned by delicate florals really stole my heart, and so we got to planning. My sister and I, among other things, bond over our love for the art of decor and event design. We created Pinterest boards, shared copious amounts of screenshots and Reels and beautifully executed our vision.
We went to a local event planning company chose our table cloths, napkins, vases and other decorative pieces to lay the foundation. Flowers are a huge part of the look, so we chose light ,wispy florals that also told the story, topped with loads of lemons, custom cups, blue glasses and a personalized sign brought the look together.
“Our Little Lemon” was certainly showered with so much love and gifts on his special day. And for as much as I was procrastinating, I’m happy I had the shower when I did, because our boy came 10 days later; and three weeks earlier than expected.
