Summertime…and the living is easy
Jun 22, 2014
I live and grew up in The Bahamas. So what better way to kick off any summer than with food, friends, music, the beach and a bonfire? There is no better way! This weekend I rallied up the troops and we headed to an exclusive little party “Under the Caribbean Moon” that was held on the Maillis Farm in Adelaide.
The long drive to get to the spot easily lend to some much needed rest and relaxation as the sweet summer night whispered in my ear through the sliver of space left in my “never rolled all the way up, never rolled all the way down” passenger side window. My boyfriend, sister and her fiance chatted away about something as I counted mango trees and suicidal crabs crawling across the road. It was summer and I was basking in the glow of my favorite time of year where clothing gets shorter, hair colors get lighter and life gets sweeter.
I donned a comfortable beige crochet skirt that hugged the right spots and a belly baring white top with flats for the occasion. But of course for photos, I had on a pair of heels. The site was beautifully decorated and the scents of the Carib-Asian cuisine permeated the nighttime air ; Thai fish cakes and sweet corn cakes, Vietnamese sweet and sour pork ribs, peking duck flautas, tropical Asian salads, deep fried Snickers and so much more! YUMMY! It was certainly a play date for adults with out of this world appetites. By the time as I hit the dance floor to dance to Chris Brown, Beyonce, Rihanna and Lil Wayne I knew for sure summer was here. The sand under my toes, the bonfire burning ferociously behind me and the mango I had stuffed in my mouth told me so. Two days down, 91 left to go!
