Who. What. Wear. (Puerto Rico)
Aug 10, 2015
I expected scorching hot summer weather when I packed my bags for my vacation to Puerto Rico. But once I landed on the beautiful island San Juan played no games with the heat! Every single day I stepped out I was thrusted into a volcano. Packing for a long trip, or any trip, has never been my fortė, but it seems this time I got it all right. I was so happy with the clothing choices I made for this trip; all cool, casual, vacation friendly items that allowed me the freedom to be a tourist and stay comfortable at the same time. From climbing through old war forts, gliding through tourist Meccas or dining by the water, here are my fave looks from summer vacation in good ole San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Creme de la creme
I absolutely love this cream, flowy, romantic dress I wore on my first trip to Old San Juan.
The lightweight material, nearly backless make and old school vintage feel made this Forever 21 dress a perfect choice for a tourist wandering the streets. I paired this look with some low top gold gladiator sandals from Aldo.
Mango Tango
This mango colored Zara casual dress is a fave with many fashionistas I’ve encountered on social media! Everyone has this dress! This is my fave go to item for a cool, casual day out. I paired it with my super comfy black and white Nike Free tennis for an adventurous day of exploring Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristobal, two historical forts in San Juan.
Birds of a feather
This beautiful, vibrant, exotic and very daring two piece suit featuring a string of cockatoos on a royal blue background was sitting up in my room for months. I bought it, didn’t know when or where I would wear it, but when I planned the trip to Puerto Rico I knew it would fit right in! I paired it these pointy toe yellow Aldo pumps.
All White Everything
All white set the mood just right for dinner by the oceanside. I never really hopped on the culottes trend for fear that I just couldn’t pull them off. But I braved it one night and paired this white pair with a white tube top and gray Forever 21 sandals. I stole these pants from my sister but she can’t remember where she got them from, but they were purchased at a local store in The Bahamas. The tube top I’ve had for years.
Accessories
Here’s to the bucket bag that saved vacation! This black fringy number was on my shoulder the entire trip. Everything fit in there; money, cards, passports, cell phones, cameras, a change of shoes and clothes, water and snacks (for the tours), tickets, maps, selfie sticks, GoPros and GoPros sticks…everything fit!

Some days I just couldn’t take the combination of makeup and the scorching weather, so I opted for my Maybelline BB cream. It was the first time really wearing the product and it wasn’t so bad. It provided lightweight coverage, a makeup-like tint and a summery glow.

I love your blog! You are a talented writer. Maybe I am being biased but I think the fact that we share the same birthday (December 3rd) makes me more inclined to read your entries! Keep writing!
