Girl, Go Take Some New Pictures!

Fun fact: I was waiting to lose about 10 pounds before scheduling my 2023 branding photoshoot. I was in the gym at 6:00 a.m. three days a week, eating healthily, taking care of my body and my skin and stalking my measurements.

But as I waited for the scale to incrementally feel relief when I visited it, I realised something: I’m a bad bish with or without a little tummy and I deserve to be seen. I realised that I was doing myself a disservice by putting my brand and business on hold, by using some vain body measurements to “reward” myself with new photos.

In fact, if I REALLY wanted a prize after losing a few pounds, I’m pretty sure I could easily find a hamburger with my name on it…add cheese and bacon, hold the tomatoes and pickles.

The worse part about all of this is that I’m a girl who has always loved taking photos. I’ve never shied away from a camera and would even “hire” my little brothers to take pictures of me on a regular Wednesday; just because I had on a nice dress and halfway did my makeup.

So not only was I holding my brand hostage; I was holding myself hostage. I was depriving myself of living in the now and showing up regardless. And photos make up about 70 per cent of my content creation strategy, I was really cutting off my nose to spite my face.

I’m alive, I’m well, I’m blessed, I’m grateful and that is enough.

If you’re feeling down and out, sad or just indifferent; one of the easiest ways to get an instant boost of confidence and energy is to get dressed and have a photoshoot. It doesn’t have to be professionally done, either.

Girl, you don’t even have to put on makeup!

The goal is to revive the you, you know exists and then you’ll realize that the thighs you thought were too big, fit perfectly into the frame and the belly you thought was too big looks amazing in that skirt (note to self).

I got tired of holding myself hostage, so guess what I did? I took some new pictures!

This is for the woman who stopped taking photos, for whatever reason. This is your sign to get dressed (or not) and strike a pose!

If you’re shying away from the camera and not showing up because you’re worried about how you look, then sign up for my Better On Camera workshop where I’ll teach you how to get the confidence you need. It’s a two-day, in-person event where I teach my four-step signature strategy to showing up as your whole self on camera. Cause girl, you’s a pie too!

Love the look? I’ve rounded up the exact items and some pretty cool dupes.
