It’s been forever since I put my blog’s spotlight on someone I wanted to introduce y’all to. But I recently connected with a girl boss, a wife, a mother, an entrepreneur and now blogger whose go-getter spirit I admire and respect!

I love a hustler!

I love people who go after the things they want to do and be without hesitation and without fear. I love people who aren’t afraid to tap into arenas and careers that are the total opposite of everything they’ve ever done!

In today’s world of sliding in the DMs, Shekia Danielle is proof that the DM you send and/or receive could either be used to start a conversation on a business and career opportunity or mindless conversation.

She chose the former.

When she slid in my DMs, something about her stood out and I could tell she was a woman about her business. Through several conversations with her, as a new blogger and someone wanting to get into digital content and social media work, it was evident that she’s passionate and genuine about wanting to be a digital content creator, a field that’s now saturated and, truthfully, a bit intimidating to enter.

Honestly, as someone who’s been in the media game for 16 years, I’m always looking to see who else is joining the field; some last, some don’t, some do it because they genuinely love it, some are in it because it looks cool.

Also as someone who’s been in the game for a while, I could tell those who will be around for a while and this Spotlight feature is one of them!

Introducing Shekia Danielle

MiniSkirts and Microphones (MAM): Tell us about yourself.  Who is Shekia Danielle, what interesting fact don’t most people know about you?
Shekia Danielle (SD): I am a wife and a mother of the world’s most energetic and full of life toddler! 🙂 I have worked in the sales and marketing for about eight years managing both local and international brands, developing strategic marketing plans and executing product promotions into the local market for consumers to enjoy, making these brands a part of their daily routines. Marketing has not always been my passion, my career actually started in banking, but after about two years working and progressing in the field, I realized that I was not being fulfilled. An interesting fact about me is I love being challenged, I love to come a cross pot holes, ditches, and gaps that the average person would bypass , and I love to proceed with innovative methods to fill these gaps and resolve those challenges. It’s interesting because while I’m human and I break like everyone else, after the breaking my mind says, “Okay Shekia so what’s next?” I try not to wait on opportunities, but rather to create them for myself, pray then push and everything will be okay.
MAM: Tell us about your transition into blogging and hosting your upcoming show On The Rise? What made you do it and what are you most looking forward to?
SD: I came to a point in my life where I felt like my passion was not in line with my progress. I realized that while I wanted to embrace greatness there were some things about myself that I needed to work on first. It’s funny, when God has you in the palm of His hand, He will not allow us to continue operating in the way you think is best. Before He elevates you He will perfect the things concerning you. Learning how to hone the fire that burns inside of you combined with embracing the positive of where you are right now is important.
A lot of times we miss what’s right in front of us because we don’t grip onto the positive that is in our very midst. Growth takes time and it’s a process. In the last few months I have been blessed with the opportunity to have my hands in a few specific initiatives around Nassau, consisting of both project planning and market/promotional execution in both the private and public sector.  It was during this process that I realized there are others out there who would love to tap into their place of fulfillment but don’t know how to. There are persons who have been through hell and back and think there is no way they can pursue their dreams with the challenges that lie in front of them. The message has to be clear on the road to your dreams, while going through the process, setbacks are setups to correct the things concerning yourself. Introspection is key and you cannot positively influence others without it.
On my show “On The Rise” I have identified persons who have unquestionably been successful in their careers and are literally on the rise in 2018. These interviews are designed to open the eyes of those who want to do the same. People must know that while achieving success does not come easy, if you remain persistent it does come.
MAM: How would you describe the brand you’re building? Who is your target audience? Who are you trying to attract and what’s your #1 goal?
SD: The brand I’m building is one to inspire, to influence and to encourage. My goal is to take people, brands and companies from a place where they have been to a place where they have not been. My target audience are individuals and entities who are ready and willing to be authentic and relatable in their approach. Businesses and brands thrive on the ability to be relative to their consumers and the ability to meet the needs of their consumers in a manner that sets them apart from the competition. My number one goal is to get people, brands and businesses to identify with that one thing that sets them apart. Once they have done that, they can take their place at the starting line.
MAM: What do you do for fun? How do you unwind after a busy day?
SD: For fun, a glass of some sweet red wine or vodka and iced tea (oh boy!) with some dancehall music that I can do all them new dance moves I just learnt in Zumba…LIFE!!! After a busy day, call me old fashioned but collapsing in Mr. Albury’s arms and having my one-year-old daughter kiss me saying, “Mummy Bella wuv you too” is all I need to detach from the stresses of the outside world.
MAM: What advice would you give to people wanting to start a blog or vlog but are afraid to?
SD: Do your research, and pursue everything with your heart. You will get nervous, but it’s okay, that way you remain humble and focused.

Shekia is my kinda girl and I’m so excited to see her bring her visions to life! Stay tuned and keep an eye out for On The Rise! Follow Shekia on social media @shekiadanielle
